Located in the Hillcrest Shopping Center, Rochester Indoor Golf Center (RIGC) offers some unique services. Paul Pehler, Golf Professional and Team Leader at RIDC, explains, “We are a welcoming venue for people interested in partaking in every facet of the game of golf.” Check out a few things that will have you grabbing your golf clubs and heading over to hit a few at RIGC.
1. You can play golf in the winter
Virtual golf, that is. RIGC uses four high-definition golf simulators. “First-time visitors are fascinated by our golf simulator technology,” says Pehler. “The simulators use computer vision technology to provide the most comprehensive and precise shot analysis in the simulator industry.” They are a visual means of playing championship courses, practicing and fitting equipment. The simulators use state-of-the-art camera projection so you can play year-round. To maintain your competitive edge, you can even join winter indoor golf leagues. Playing 18 holes on a simulator will take one golfer around 45-60 minutes.
2. Instruction offered 7 days a week
RIGC offers professional golf instruction any day of the week and will even stay open late with advanced notice. You can choose to have instruction indoors or outside (during the golf season). Pehler says, “Golf is a lifetime sport with many moving parts that often are not very natural or logical. Consequently, it is difficult to pick up the mechanics without the assistance of trained professionals.” Perfect your swing with the pros.
3. You can trade in old clubs
Interested in buying your kids a set of clubs but worried how quickly they’ll grow out of them? RIGC offers a 100% buy-back towards the next set of Junior Clubs. They also take trade-ins. Pehler explains, “Most golf stores no longer take in used clubs. I guess we are old school because we take in used clubs, bags and carts.”
4. Find your best ball
Ever wondered what the best ball to match your specific style of play would be? By going to rochesterindoorgolfcenter.com, you can try an online “Ball Selection Guide.” The guide analyzes a database of over 300,000 live launch monitor fittings before determining the best ball for your personal golf game.
5. Bring your own beer
Yes, it’s true. You can get a bucket of beer (all brands) from Charlie’s Eatery & Pub—also in Hillcrest Shopping Center—and bring it to your golf game at RIGC. Pehler adds, “Not only can you get a beer, but also mixed drinks, wine and bar food!”
