The scents of autumn are quite well-known: pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves, all those lovely spices we enjoy in coffee, scones and other baked goods. Fall candles provide some wonderful scents, but they can get expensive, especially if you want to burn them constantly because they smell so wonderful (guilty!). A simmer pot is another way to fill your home with the aroma of fall without breaking the bank. And bonus, it’s quick and easy!
Cut up your apple and orange. You can stick the cloves into the orange peel if you want. Add the fruit, 3 cinnamon sticks and one tablespoon of cloves to a pot. Fill at least 3/4 full of water and put on stove over low heat.
As the water warms up, the lovely aromas of fall will start to fill your home. Make sure you keep an eye on the pot; don’t let the water drop below half full.
Simmer pots can be reused for a few days, though they won’t look as nice. But that doesn’t stop them from smelling wonderful!
