Lincoln Brewster will bring some “Oxygen” to Rochester.
Brewster, a contemporary Christian artist and former guitar player for Steve Perry, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at Autumn Ridge Church in Rochester. Brewster is promoting his ninth studio album, “Oxygen,” which was released on Aug. 19.
Concert producer Jim Maher said Autumn Ridge Church brought Brewster to the church’s 1,100 seat auditorium because, “He’s a great rock guitarist, who has also put his stamp on many of the contemporary worship songs.” Brewster said “Oxygen” still has his well-known guitar solos, but it also contains more pop music than earlier recordings.
“I’m just really excited about every song on this album,” Brewster said. “We’ve been playing a lot of them in church, and I believe people who don’t listen to a lot of Christian music will still be able to relate, while people who do listen to a lot of Christian music will listen to it and think, ‘Wow, this seems really fresh.'”
Along with being a recording artist, Brewster is also the senior worship pastor at Bayside Church in Granite Bay, Calif. When he tours, he not only plays music but also shares uplifting messages with the crowd.
“We perform a very high-energy, uplifting pop-rock driven night of music,” Brewster said. “We start with humor, energy and lots of fun, and we end with heart. I believe people will leave very encouraged and uplifted.”
Along with his solo career, Brewster has toured with Michael W. Smith and Perry, Journey’s former lead singer. Maher said Brewster’s big following and impressive career were the reasons he was brought to Rochester. Autumn Ridge Church has hosted two major concerts each year since the church’s new building was built nine years ago.
“These are signature events for Autumn Ridge,” Maher said. “It’s all a part of welcoming people to our congregation. We know that at least 50 percent of the people in the crowd won’t be from our congregation, so we look for nationally known, award-winning artists, who have made their marks with their creativity.”
Tickets are $32 (artist circle) and $22 and available at autumnridgechurch.org.
