An exhibition developed in the Locally Grown art series will open Feb. 18 at the People’s Food Co-op Cafe, 519 First Ave. SW, Rochester.
The opening reception for Teaki Garcia: “Urheimat (Guardian)” is from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Locally Grown series is a partnership between People’s Food Co-op and the Rochester Art Center. The series presents artists who have previously exhibited in the art center’s RAC2 local artist gallery.
Garcia’s new exhibition expands upon her “Urheimat” show in 2014 at the art center. “My work creates social commentary in textiles, photography and other media to present a visual lexicon with genuine intent to inspire and aspire American culture, not degrade it,” Garcia said in describing her art.
The exhibition continues through May 1 at People’s Food Co-op.
