What started five years ago as an event for friends and family of hockey players in the Return of the Robin hockey tournament has grown to draw hundreds of runners. This year, for the first time, the Return of the Robin Run and Music Fest sets out on its own. The big event takes place Saturday, May 7.
From an initial group of 40 runners that first year, the sixth annual race has over 600 entrants from 18 states and 144 cities throughout the country. To make it more than just a running race, Brett Landon, founder of Robin events, has teamed up with Triton Event Races to add a musical element to the day. From the start of the races to the wee hours of the morning, music lovers can rock out to their favorite bands. All runs start and end in Graham Arena 1, where two concert stages will keep the music playing all day long.
Rounding out the event is a broom ball tournament featuring national teams. The tournament takes place Friday and Saturday at Graham Arena 4.
All adult runners are greeted at the finish line with a bloody mary and plenty of great music to celebrate their run (or walk or stroll). All runners receive free entry into the day session music fest and receive discounted tickets to the evening session. If you don’t feel like running or walking, you can purchase day or evening session tickets or an all-day music pass.
