Sterling Haukom’s band, Second Story, is gearing up to release a new EP on Saturday, March 12, and they’ll play a show at Kathy’s Pub that night starting around 10 p.m.

I’ve been drinking a lot of free beer at my own shows lately.

I really like the Dirty Laundry Duo and the collaborations they’ve been making.
Most memorable Rochester gig experience?
My most memorable moment was opening for Charlie Parr at the civic theater. Charlie is one of my music heroes.
If you could run sound for one artist no longer among the living, who would it be? Why?
Playing with musicians is a tie between Kurt Cobain and Bradley Nowell. If anything, it’d be nice to just talk to them a little bit. They’re both huge influences in my music.
Top three artists at the moment?
Fury Things is the best show I’ve been to in a long time, At the Drive In just got back together, and I’m constantly trying to find more bands and artists. It’s hard to pick another.
One book you think everyone should read?
I honestly think the Bible is something everyone should read.
Favorite local hangout?
My favorite place right now is Cafe Steam. The serve my brand of tea.
Strangest thing you’ve ever seen an audience member do?
I feel like I’m usually the strange one out there, but seeing the old ladies getting into my punk band is always pretty awesome, and amusing when they make obscure song requests.
Best show you’ve ever seen?
The best shows I’ve ever seen are always Charlie Parr shows. His shows are so diverse. He can make you laugh and cry, he can make you dance and stand in awe, all in one night. So fun.
