Tonight, the D’Sievers hit the Doggery from 8 to 11 with a big crew. They have John Sievers on trombone, Steve Sawyer on bass, Kurt Savela on the skins, Eric Straubmuller on keys, and Clem Johnston on clarinet.
If jazz isn’t quite your thing, there’s always C4’s open mic session at Cafe Steam at 7:30 p.m. or Joel Ward’s Theraputic Thursdays at Forager Brewery from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.
On Friday night, the Wicked Moose combines rock music and titillating stage antics for Hard Rock Burlesque. The event features the talents of some of the most highly regarded burlesque dancers of the Twin Cities and the music of up & coming Rochester band Liquor Beats Winter. The band plays a bluesy form of rock that finds inspiration from Tom Waits and the Dead Kennedys, complete with occasional harmonica and trumpet solos.

As an added bonus, if you need to step outside to cool off,Sothea Lam’s mellow acoustic tunes are on deck on the Moose’s acoustic stage that night from 9 p.m. until midnight.
For another trip outside the norm, check out Kathy’s Pub on Friday night, where, at 9 p.m., DJs InztraMENTAL and MIDNIGHT are scheduled to spin some house, dubstep, and other styles of futuristic synth music. It’s part of a new monthly event that the pub is starting up, so be sure to keep checking back.
The Wicked Moose plays host to the Pure Rock Winter Showcase on Sunday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. The event gives music students from Pure Rock Studios a chance to show off their burgeoning skills and could be a window into the future of this city’s musical landscape. The school’s youngest students perform from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., while the teens and adults hit the stage from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Bring a non-perishable food donation and be entered to win free lessons.
