If you’re a locavore or just someone who likes the freshest ingredients, expertly prepared, the folks at Kutzky Market have a treat coming up for you.
It’s called HARVEST, and it’s a weekly pop-up restaurant in the back corner space of Forager Brewery (the same place where Thai Pop has been making its mark regularly). HARVEST will showcase locally sourced ingredients that have just been picked. This pop-up concept will be hosted by Forager’s Executive Chef Jordan Bell, and some of the recipes may make it onto Forager’s menu later this summer.
The best part of this local, sustainable meal is the price: It’s five courses for just $25. You’ll have the option to add beer pairings or a cocktail flight, too. The weekly eatery starts serving on Thursday, May 12. Watch Forager’s Facebook page for updates and when tickets will be made available.

Reader Sally Johnson pointed out there are plenty more restaurants with outdoor spaces that might not offer the best view, but really — isn’t it all about the food anyway? I like the way Sally thinks.
She had several on her list, including Whistle Binkies on the Lake, Wild Bill’s Sports Saloon, Fat Willy’s, Dooley’s Pub, Cowboy Jack’s, and last but not least, Wildwood Sports Bar and Grill, which is one of the unsung heroes of pretty excellent food in Rochester.
Don’t forget: Street party weekend
Consider your weekend booked: This Friday and Saturday nights, two hot restaurants on downtown’s historic Third Street are hosting block parties.
In case you missed my earlier coverage: Tap House is hosting a Beer Street Social from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, with live music and Triple T BBQ. Then on Saturday, come on back to historic Third Street for Grand Rounds’ first anniversary street party from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with more live music, a pig roast and the beer that’s made Grand Rounds a Rochester favorite.
It’s really ‘I’ll see you later’
Last week, I mentioned that I started writing this column years ago. The truth is, I can’t even remember how many years it’s been. Seven? Eight? In however long it’s been, the Rochester restaurant scene has expanded and grown even more than I could have hoped, which means my job was always a lot of fun — and filling.
But after today, I’m hanging up my culinary hat to make room for other writing in my life (look for my name here and there) — and hopefully, to make room for more fantastic writers to make their mark on the Rochester culinary scene. Thanks for being the best readers ever, even when you took me to task. It’s been an honor to make sure Rochester is well-fed.
