We are so excited to bring you the second Rochester YogaFest! The location is new, but the hope remains the same: to bring together yogis from all over southeastern Minnesota to experience a day full of yoga. We are bringing in instructors who teach a variety of styles from area studios to give you the best opportunity to find a style that resonates with you, and to experience the great teachers we have in southeast Minnesota.
New to this event, we have a track for beginner yogis. This is perfect for those of you who want to try yoga but have never done it before, or those who have practiced a few times but are still quite new, are unfamiliar with pose names, or who need modifications or chair options. UPDATE: Beginner track is full for this event.
The event will take place Saturday, Feb 25, from 9am to 4pm at the Rochester Civic Theatre. Please make sure you bring your mat, a water bottle and any props you may need (i.e. straps, blocks).

Janae Kellogg (Studio 223)
Yoga is a huge passion of mine and I love to help others connect to themselves through the practice. In addition to yoga, I am also a personal trainer and holistic health coach. My mission is to help others find their ultimate health and happiness through exercise, nutrition, and personal development, learning and growing through the process. Yoga is my “happy” and when I teach I feel alive and hope to leave my students with the same feeling!
Janae’s beginner yoga

Anatomy and Energetic Alignment of Common Vinyasa Yoga Asanas (Poses)
The word vinyasa means “to place in a special way.” However, we are often moving so quickly through our vinyasa yoga practice, that we don’t take the time to pay attention to how we are stacking our joints and bones, and how we are energetically inhabiting the asanas. This workshop will break down several common vinyasa yoga asanas, and provide insight in how to embody your asana, from the inside out with structural and energetic integrity.
Jen Schimek (Rochester Area Family YMCA)
My name is Jennifer Schimek but you can call me Jen. I love teaching group fitness! I think it’s fun to watch people grow fit together and form friendships. I have been a personal trainer since 2007 and from there I noticed that most people seem to have more fun when they workout with friends. So in 2013, I got certified to teach group fitness also. I am certified through AFAA with emphasis in Pilates, kickboxing, senior fitness and yoga. I am also certified to teach BeachBody PiYo and Insanity. I love staying fit and active and learning new things. No matter how much how much you know, there is always more to learn! I believe in teamwork and strength in numbers. Everyone brings something useful and unique with them. It’s up to us to being out the very best in everyone, from beginner to seasoned professional!
Jen is going to be teaching a yoga class using chairs. Chair yoga is a good way to experience the benefits of yoga even if your body can’t twist and turn into pretzel poses.

She is a trained Reiki Master through the Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage, and currently teaches yoga at the Rochester Athletic Club and a community class at Zumbro Lutheran Church.
